About Grasmoor

Grasmoor is the highest of the group of hills lying between Lorton, Braithwaite and Buttermere, and it looks out over Crummock Water. Its defining feature is the steep western flank falling towards that lake.

Rock climbers find little to work with on that face, there being scarcely any clean rock, though Alfred Wainwright set out a demanding line up it in his Pictorial Guides. Eastward the fell connects to its neighbours by way of Crag Hill and Coledale Hause. Grasmoor also carries the largest expanse of scree anywhere in the North Western Fells.
