About Ard Crags

Ard Crags rises in the Newlands Valley, just off the minor road linking Keswick and Buttermere. Seen from parts of Rigg Beck or the wider Newlands area it takes a sharply defined pyramidal outline, though it sits among taller fells such as Causey Pike and Eel Crag and is often passed over.

There is a discrepancy worth noting in the numbers: the Ordnance Survey records 581 metres, whereas Alfred Wainwright gave roughly 1,860 feet in his Pictorial Guide to the North Western Fells of 1964, published long before satellite mapping.
