About Crag Hill

Crag Hill looks down on Rannerdale to the west and Coledale to the east, in the North Western Fells. It was once known as Eel Crag, a name the Ordnance Survey now applies more narrowly to the crags on the fell's northern side. A separate Crag Hill on the North Yorkshire border is a different hill entirely.

Within the block of high ground between Whinlatter and Newlands passes it is the second highest fell, behind Grasmoor. Its 839 m summit carries a relative height of 117 m.

Crag Hill is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Grasmoor (852 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 723 m.
