About High Crag (Buttermere)

High Crag closes the southern end of the High Stile ridge, the barrier between Ennerdale and Buttermere in the western Lake District. It is commonly taken as part of a much-walked ridge traverse, approached either from Black Sail youth hostel or from Buttermere by way of Scarth Gap.

Great Gable and the Scafells fill much of the view. At 744.8 m it appears on the Wainwright, Hewitt, Nuttall, Simm, Birkett, Synge and Fellranger lists.
