About High Stile
High Stile is the highest of the range of fells running north-west from Great Gable towards Loweswater. With Red Pike and High Crag it makes up a trio above the lake and village of Buttermere.
The Buttermere side carries high crags, wild combes and the small Bleaberry Tarn. At 807 metres with 362 metres of relative height, it ranks as the eleventh-highest English Marilyn, and is usually taken as part of a traverse of the three fells.

The recorded summit point is small cairn on outcrop. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
