Great Rigg

About Great Rigg

Great Rigg lies some 7 km north-west of Ambleside and reaches 766 metres. Its name comes from the Old English rigg, a knobbly or bumpy ridge.

Few walkers visit it alone: it is usually taken in on the Fairfield horseshoe, the 16-kilometre circuit out of and back to Ambleside.
