About Pumlumon Fawr
Pumlumon Fawr, or Plynlimon, is the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains and of Mid Wales, and the high point of Ceredigion. It is a massif rather than a single hill, dominating the country around it, and its summit Pen Pumlumon Fawr reaches 752 m above ordnance datum.
Other tops in the group include Pen Pumlumon Arwystli, Y Garn, Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan and Pumlumon Fach, with Bryn yr Wyn, 'hill of the lambs', a former Dewey among the foothills. Three rivers rise here: the Severn, Britain's longest, along with the Wye and the Rheidol. Folklore places a sleeping giant within the mountain.

The Pumlumon Fawr group
4 other listed summits sit in the same prominence group, with Pumlumon Fawr as the independent hill at its head.
| Summit | Height | Drop |
|---|---|---|
| Pen Pumlumon Arwystli | 741 m | 64 m |
| Pen Pumlumon Llygad-bychan | 727 m | 36 m |
| Y Garn | 684 m | 56 m |
| Pumlumon Fach | 664 m | 19 m |
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
