About Maesglase

Maesglase is the highest of the Dyfi Hills, standing about four miles south-west of Aran Fawddwy. It links by ridges and arêtes to several neighbours, among them Maen-Du, Craig Rhiw-erch, Waun-oer, Mynydd Dolgoed and Cribin Fawr, so it is often taken as part of a longer round. Approaches run through the forestry from Dinas Mawddwy or from the bwlch on the A470.

Which point is actually the summit has been disputed. Maen Du, at 674 m, was traditionally treated as the top, but later surveys found Craig Rhiw-erch, some 600 m to the west, to be higher at around 676 m; a more recent survey gives 678.5 m.
