Hindscarth lies between Buttermere and Newlands in the north-western Lake District.

Its name comes from two Old Norse elements, Hind and Skarth, and means the pass used by the red deer. The summit reaches 727 m and is a Wainwright, Hewitt, Nuttall and Simm.
