About Garreg Las

Garreg Las, also called Twyn Swnd, is a subsidiary summit of Fan Brycheiniog in the Carmarthenshire part of Bannau Brycheiniog. Its top lies towards the northern end of Esgair Hir, a broad north-south ridge, at 635 m.

Just over a kilometre north is a subsidiary top, Carreg yr Ogof, whose name means rock of the cave and reflects the limestone underfoot. That top reaches 585 m and carries a trig point.

The recorded summit point is northerly of two huge ancient cairns. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
