About Buckbarrow

Buckbarrow is a small fell overlooking the western end of Wastwater. Alfred Wainwright included it in his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells with an approximate height of 1,410 ft; the Ordnance Survey and modern guidebooks give 423 m, or 1,388 ft.

The name means the hill of the buck or goat, from either Old English bucc or Old Norse bokki, a male goat.
