About Aran Fawddwy

Aran Fawddwy is the highest peak of the Aran range in southern Eryri and the county top of historic Merionethshire. It is the only Welsh summit outside northern Snowdonia to exceed 900 m, and nothing in the United Kingdom south of northern Snowdonia is higher.

Creiglyn Dyfi, a small lake on the eastern slopes, is the source of the River Dyfi. The ridge also carries the sister peak Aran Benllyn at 885 m, with Erw y Ddafad-ddu between the two. Dinas Mawddwy lies to the south, Llanymawddwy to the southeast, Rhydymain to the west and Llanuwchllyn to the north on the shore of Llyn Tegid; Bala and Dolgellau are the nearest larger towns.
