About Yr Aran
Yr Aran sits on a ridge running south from Snowdon, so it is best understood as an outlier of the highest mountain in Wales rather than a separate massif. From the top the view takes in Snowdon's summit, Moel Hebog and the Nantlle Ridge.
With 747.2 m of height and 235 m of prominence, it qualifies as a Hewitt and a Nuttall. No paths to the summit appear on maps, though walkers commonly take it in as a detour from the Rhyd Ddu or Watkin approaches to Snowdon.

small knoll 25m NE is 1.0m lower.
The recorded summit point is rock by cairn. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
