About Yes Tor
Yes Tor is the second highest point on Dartmoor at 619 m, standing 2 m below its close neighbour High Willhays. Between them they are the only wholly English summits south of the Peak District National Park to top 610 m.
The name comes from Old English earnes torr, meaning eagle's tor. Yes Tor sits inside a British Army firing range, and access depends on the current Dartmoor Firing Notice, which sets out the days and nights when firing is taking place.
