About Great Links Tor
Great Links Tor is a prominent tor on the north-western flank of Dartmoor in Devon, visible for a considerable distance on the approach to the moor from the west. One of the highest points on Dartmoor, it is dominated by a monolithic granite outcrop some 40 feet (12 metres) high.
An Ordnance Survey triangulation point sits on a block to the west of the main outcrop, and this is the point most visitors climb to; the highest outcrop itself cannot be reached without a rock climb, the easiest line being a chimney on its eastern side. Nearby lie the remains of the Rattlebrook Peat Works at Rattlebrook Head, together with the ruins of the aptly named Bleak House.

Conditional Right to roam: Right to roam only on mapped CRoW open access land.
Yes Wild camping: Lawful on the Dartmoor commons, confirmed by the Supreme Court in 2025.
Following Darwall v Dartmoor National Park Authority [2025] UKSC 20 (21 May 2025), s.10(1) of the Dartmoor Commons Act 1985 confers a public right to pitch tents or otherwise make camp overnight on the Dartmoor commons, as camping is a form of open-air recreation. This applies to the commons (not the whole National Park) — follow the park authority's backpack-camping map and code.

Finding the summit
tor is about 3m higher than trig point.
The recorded summit point is rock tor by trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.

Which hill this one belongs to
Great Links Tor is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to High Willhays (622 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 477 m.
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
