Mynydd Graig Goch, the mountain of the red rock, is the peak at the western end of the Nantlle Ridge and a subsidiary summit of Craig Cwm Silyn. It is the most westerly Welsh peak above 2,000 feet.

For many years it was left out of the lists of Welsh 2000-foot mountains because OS maps gave a spot height of 609 m. That changed in 2008, when a group of hillwalkers carried out a precise GPS survey and measured the absolute height at 609.75 m, a little over 2,000 feet.

Mynydd Graig Goch is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Craig Cwm Silyn (734 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 536 m.

Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
