About Moel Llyfnant

Moel Llyfnant belongs to the Arenig range in the southern part of Eryri, lying west of Arenig Fawr. Rocky outcrops break the summit area, and the small cairn marking the top sits on one of them.

Its one notable subsidiary is the twin-peaked Gallt y Daren at the end of the west ridge. The outlook takes in Arenig Fawr, with Rhobell Fawr and Dduallt to the south and Gallt y Daren and Foel Boeth to the west.

The Moel Llyfnant group

2 other listed summits sit in the same prominence group, with Moel Llyfnant as the independent hill at its head.

Gallt y Daren 619 m 113 m
Foel Boeth 615 m 17 m

Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
