About Troutbeck Tongue
Troutbeck Tongue is a small fell about five kilometres ENE of Ambleside, one of the 214 hills covered by Alfred Wainwright's Pictorial Guides, which keeps a steady stream of walkers coming to it.
At 364 m it is modest in height and close to a main road, and it is often used as a half-day outing when the higher fells are under cloud. Alongside its Wainwright status it appears in the Birkett, Synge and Fellranger lists.
