About Suilven

Few Scottish hills are as distinctive in profile as Suilven, which lifts out of the moorland, bog and lochans of Assynt in western Sutherland. Its remoteness is part of the character: the mountain stands well clear of anything around it.

The mountain is a steep-sided ridge roughly two kilometres long carrying three summits. Caisteal Liath, 'Grey Castle', is the highest and sits at the north-west end; Meall Meadhonach, 'Middle Round Hill', reaches 723 m in the centre; and Meall Beag, 'Little Round Hill', closes the ridge at the south-eastern end.
