About Steeple

Steeple stands at 819 m in the high country between Ennerdale and Wasdale. Strictly it is not an independent fell at all but the rocky northern spur of Scoat Fell, though its sharp peak and steep crags have won it a standing of its own.

Alfred Wainwright thought highly of both the hill and its name, remarking that it commands the eye on a map and does the same in reality.
