Souther Fell

About Souther Fell

Souther Fell stands south of Mungrisdale village among the Northern Fells. Its reputation rests less on its shape than on a story: a 'spectral army' was said to have been seen marching along its crest on Midsummer's Day, 1745. No such force was anywhere in the district at the time.

The fell appears on the Wainwright, Birkett, Synge and Fellranger lists.
