About Slievelamagan

Slievelamagan occupies the middle of the high Eastern Mournes in County Down, with Ben Crom Reservoir below to the west, the Annalong River valley to the east and Cove Mountain to the north-east. Blue Lough, a small lake, lies at its southern foot, near a rock formation called 'Percy Bysshe'.

The Irish name, Sliabh Lámhagáin, is said to mean "mountain of crawling", a reference to slopes steep enough that they had to be tackled on all fours. An earlier name, Slieve Snavan, from Sliabh Snámháin, carries the same sense.
