About Red Beck Top
Red Beck Top is one of the subsidiary tops on the Glaramara ridge, a long spine of over six kilometres running from Stonethwaite in Borrowdale to the pass of Esk Hause. Glaramara's own 783 m summit sits at the centre of that ridge, which separates Langstrath from Grains Gill.
The ridge carries two further fells alongside its numerous tops and several small tarns, so Red Beck Top is best understood as one incident along a substantial traverse rather than a hill approached in isolation.

Which hill this one belongs to
Red Beck Top is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Scafell Pike (978 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 683 m.
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
