About Kirk Fell East Top

Kirk Fell East Top is a subsidiary summit of Kirk Fell, in the western Lake District between Great Gable and Pillar on the ring of fells enclosing Ennerdale, with Wasdale below to the south.

The parent fell is cut off from both higher neighbours by the low passes of Black Sail and Beck Head, which gives it substantial relative height and Marilyn status — the thirteenth highest in the Lake District. The direct line up the south-western slope from Wasdale Head is exceptionally steep and drew an amusing drawing from Wainwright. Ascents usually take one of the passes, or come as part of the Mosedale Horseshoe around that side-valley of Wasdale.
