Hollow Moor is the top of Green Quarter Fell, an upland area near Kentmere village in the eastern Lake District, and it is under the Green Quarter Fell name that Wainwright treated it in The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. His anticlockwise round from Kentmere reaches Hollow Moor at 425 metres and a nameless second summit at 420 metres, with a detour to the tarn of Skeggles Water.

He rated the outlook highly, describing a perfectly balanced and lovely view of upper Kentmere that cries aloud for a camera.
