About Hard Knott

Hard Knott stands at the head of Eskdale, in the western Lake District. The fell straddles a parish boundary: its northern and western flanks fall within the civil parish of Eskdale, while the southern and eastern slopes belong to Ulpha. Both lie in the unitary authority of Cumberland and the ceremonial county of Cumbria.

It appears on Wainwright's list as well as the Birkett, Synge and Fellranger rounds, and its prominence earns it Marilyn and HuMP status.
