About Foel y Geifr

Foel y Geifr belongs to the Hirnantau, a group of hills rising from the south-eastern shore of Llyn Tegid. It is a subsidiary summit of Esgeiriau Gwynion and, at 626 m, the highest point on a ridge forming the western backwall of Cwm Hirnant.

Which range it belongs to is genuinely disputed. Its place on the Hirnant horseshoe leads many to treat it as a Berwyn hill, though geographically it sits with the Aran Fawddwy group and is the eastern outpost of the Arans. The top itself is grassy with a trig point, while the ground around it is heathery and boggy.
