Brant Fell

About Brant Fell

Rising directly behind Bowness-on-Windermere, Brant Fell is one of the fells given a chapter in Wainwright's The Outlying Fells of Lakeland, and he praised the view it gives over Windermere.

His circuit leaves Bowness along the Dales Way and loops anticlockwise by way of the viewpoint at Post Knott, with Biskey Howe a short diversion off Helm Road on the return. Below the top on its eastern side lie sizeable slabs of Silurian rock, thought to have been smoothed by glacier ice moving out of the Windermere basin. The rock at the summit itself attracts boulderers.
