About Binnein Mor South Top

Binnein Mor South Top is a 1,062-metre Munro Top in the Mamores, the range separating Glen Nevis from Loch Leven in the Scottish Highlands. It stands where a short, narrow ridge running south from Binnein Mòr — the highest peak in the range — joins the main Mamores ridge, an otherwise unnamed summit recorded in Munro's Tables as Binnein Mòr south top.

Binnein Mòr itself rises about five kilometres north-north-east of Kinlochleven, its pyramidal summit overlooking the uninhabited upper reaches of Glen Nevis. Despite being the highest of the Mamores it is not among the most visited, partly because of its relative remoteness; it is most often climbed from Kinlochleven, frequently in combination with Na Gruagaichean, the next peak to the west.

Which hill this one belongs to

Binnein Mor South Top is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Binnein Mor (1,130 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 1,038 m.

Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
