Armboth Fell

About Armboth Fell

Alfred Wainwright regarded Armboth Fell as the centre of Lakeland. It takes its name from the former settlement of Armboth and forms a domed plateau about three-quarters of a mile across, jutting east from the Derwentwater-Thirlmere watershed.

Much of the ground is wet, with wide areas under heather, while conifers have been planted on the eastern slopes above Thirlmere.
