About Silecroft station
Silecroft is a stop on the Cumbrian Coast Line between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness, serving the villages of Silecroft and Kirksanton, 19 miles north-west of Barrow. It opened with the line on 1 November 1850, built by the Whitehaven and Furness Junction Railway, and stands to the west of Black Combe Fell.
The station was a request stop until December 2023. A signal box at its south end controls one of the many level crossings on this section of the route, and some through trains to the Furness Line towards Lancaster call here. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

A hill 8 km away in a straight line can be a much longer day on the ground — and on rural lines the last train home leaves early and some stations are request stops with a handful of services a day. Check live times and facilities for Silecroft before you commit, plan the route on a proper map, and give the daylight planner your real finish time.
