About Yockenthwaite Moor

Yockenthwaite Moor is the broad upland carrying the name of the small hamlet below it in Langstrothdale, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North Yorkshire. The hamlet sits on the north bank of the River Wharfe, roughly 32 km north of Skipton and 13 km south of Hawes.

The name is generally explained as Eoghan's woodland clearing. The hamlet's single road link crosses an early 18th-century grade II listed bridge, and the place has a wider profile than its size suggests thanks to a character in the children's series The Rottentrolls. The moor above reaches 643 m and is listed as a Hewitt, Nuttall and Simm.
