About Y Gyrn

Y Gyrn is one of the tops of Pen y Fan, on the Bannau Brycheiniog side of the ridge above the A470 and the Storey Arms. The summit itself is a boggy mound topped by a pile of stones, and it looks down on that busy road corridor rather than into the wilder recesses of the range.

Between Y Gyrn and Corn Du stands Tommy Jones' Obelisk, a memorial that most walkers on this side of the massif pass at some point. As a Nuttall at 619 m, Y Gyrn tends to be taken in as part of a wider round of the Pen y Fan group rather than sought out alone.
