About Mount Keen
Mount Keen, or Monadh Caoin, has a distinction no other Munro can take: at 939 metres it is the most easterly of them all, standing on the Aberdeenshire-Angus border in the Cairngorms National Park. A trig point marks the summit, and on a clear day the Cairngorms are laid out to the north, Lochnagar especially.
Lines of approach come from Glen Mark to the south, Glen Tanar to the north, and eastwards towards Braid Cairn. Many people begin by mountain bike from Aboyne, riding up through the native Caledonian pine woodland of Glen Tanar.
