About Meall nan Tarmachan
Meall nan Tarmachan sits in the Southern Highlands near Killin, just west of Ben Lawers, and gives its name to the Tarmachan ridge. The other summits along that ridge, running south-west, are Meall Garbh at 1,026 m, Beinn nan Eachan at 1,000 m and Creag na Caillich at 914 m; all three are Tops rather than Munros, leaving Meall nan Tarmachan itself as the ridge's only Munro at 1,044 m.
The usual approach comes from the east, by the road heading north from the Ben Lawers visitor centre, from where the summit is a short walk. Continuing along the full length of the Tarmachan ridge is a different proposition and involves some scrambling.
