About Beinn Ghlas
Beinn Ghlas belongs to the Ben Lawers range on the north shore of Loch Tay, in Breadalbane. Its name, grey-green mountain, describes the mica-schist that makes up most of the hill and spills as scree down the south-western side; outcrops of the rock along the way show large garnets.
The deep Coire Odhar, the dun-coloured corrie, lies to the north. Walkers heading on to Ben Lawers sometimes skirt the summit on the return to avoid a hundred metres of re-ascent.
