About Meall nan Tarmachan South Top
Meall nan Tarmachan South Top, also recorded as Meall nan Tarmachan SE Top, is a 921.6-metre subsidiary summit of Meall nan Tarmachan, a Southern Highlands mountain near Killin in Scotland, just west of Ben Lawers. It is classified as a Munro Top, a Simm and a Murdo.
The parent mountain is often climbed as part of the Tarmachan ridge, whose other peaks — Meall Garbh, Beinn nan Eachan and Creag na Caillich — are Tops rather than Munros and lie to its south-west. The usual approach comes from the east, along the road that runs north from the Ben Lawers visitor centre; from there the main summit is a short and straightforward walk, though traversing the whole ridge does involve some scrambling.

Which hill this one belongs to
Meall nan Tarmachan South Top is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Meall nan Tarmachan (1,044 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 889 m.
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
