About Dunmallet

Dunmallet, also recorded as Dunmallard Hill, is a wooded knoll beside Pooley Bridge at the northern end of Ullswater's valley, reaching about 236 metres. The trees mean the views from the top are limited.

Traces of an Iron Age hill fort have been identified on it, and older spellings of the name include Dunmalloght and Dunmallock. Wainwright covered it in The Outlying Fells of Lakeland, describing the climb from Pooley Bridge as a simple after-dinner stroll.
