Bodesbeck Law belongs to the Ettrick Hills in the Southern Uplands, on the border between Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.

It forms the primary west-south-western end of the ridge running parallel to the A708, a line sometimes called the Bodesbeck Ridge. The hill is a Donald, HuMP and Simm.
