About Beinn Dearg
Fourth highest of the Torridon Hills, this Beinn Dearg shows the character typical of the group: steeply terraced rock walls cut by near-vertical gullies. The summit ridge is a narrow crest with some scrambling, though a path traversing the terraces on the southern side avoids it.
It falls just under 3,000 ft and so holds no Munro top, which is one reason it sees far fewer visits than the three larger mountains around it. The Munro Society had CMCR Ltd survey the summit in 2007 to settle the question; the result came in 2.42 ft short.
