About Beinn Damh

Beinn Damh occupies the rough country between Upper Loch Torridon and Glen Carron, some 25 km north-north-east of Kyle of Lochalsh. Its summit ridge runs undulating for about four kilometres over three tops, with steep flanks and crags; the eastern face is the most dramatic, carrying large buttresses and cliffs.

A distinctive marking, the Stirrup Mark, lies just south-west of the summit: a semi-circular patch of white quartzite set in grey rock, conspicuous when the hill is seen from that direction. The name translates as Hill of the Stag, fitting for a mountain standing in the middle of the Ben Damh deer estate. At 903 m it misses Munro height by eleven metres and is classed a Corbett.
