About Sgorr Ruadh

Sgorr Ruadh, An Sgùrr Ruadh in Gaelic, rises between Strath Carron and Glen Torridon in Wester Ross, part of the Northwest Highlands.

It sits within Coire Lair near Achnashellach, sharing the corrie with Beinn Liath Mhòr and Fuar Tholl. Walkers commonly link it with one or both of those neighbours rather than taking it on its own.

Finding the summit

Surveyor's note

highest natural rock may be under wind shelter.

The recorded summit point is rock 4m S of cairn. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
