About Beinn an Lochain
Beinn an Lochain is one of the Arrochar Alps, within Argyll Forest Park and in turn inside the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Hugh Munro included it in his original list of 3,000-foot summits, but later surveys put it well short, at 901.7 m.
That demotion has not cost it much. It is frequently held up as evidence that Scottish hillwalking extends beyond Munro-bagging. Ascents usually start from the car park at Butter Bridge on the A83 in Glen Kinglas, with the north-east ridge giving around 2.5 km and more than 700 m of climbing to the top, and views out to Loch Restil and the pass between Glen Croe and Glen Kinglas.
