About Glossop station
Glossop station serves the Peak District town of Glossop in Derbyshire and is the terminus of the Glossop line, 13 miles east of Manchester Piccadilly. It stands just north of Norfolk Square in the centre of the town, and is the third busiest station in Derbyshire after Derby and Chesterfield, with a recorded usage of 739,966 for April 2024 to March 2025.
Together with the nearby Derbyshire stations at Hadfield and Dinting, Glossop is considered part of the Greater Manchester rail network: it lies only a short distance over the county boundary and the line goes no further into Derbyshire. For that reason the station signs carry the Transport for Greater Manchester logo and the station appears on the TfGM rail network map, although Greater Manchester concessionary fares do not apply to passengers travelling from Glossop, Dinting or Hadfield.

A hill 8 km away in a straight line can be a much longer day on the ground — and on rural lines the last train home leaves early and some stations are request stops with a handful of services a day. Check live times and facilities for Glossop before you commit, plan the route on a proper map, and give the daylight planner your real finish time.
