Windy Standard

About Windy Standard

Windy Standard is one of the Carsphairn and Scaur Hills in the Southern Uplands, lying in Dumfries and Galloway south of New Cumnock, north-east of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn.

Once a remote summit, it is now surrounded by expanding windfarm development across its top and slopes; the earliest of those schemes was at one time the largest windfarm in Scotland.

The Windy Standard group

One other listed summit sits in the same prominence group, with Windy Standard as the independent hill at its head.
