About Cairnsmore of Carsphairn
Cairnsmore of Carsphairn is the high point of the Carsphairn and Scaur Hills, a range within the Southern Uplands. Its summit sits a little under six kilometres north-east of Carsphairn village, in the far north of Kirkcudbrightshire.
The qualifier matters here: it separates this hill from Cairnsmore of Fleet and Cairnsmore of Dee, the other two Cairnsmores in Galloway. An older and now seldom-heard name for it is Cairnsmore of Deugh. In Gaelic it appears as Càrnas Mòr Cars Feàrna. It is both a Corbett and a Donald.
