About Stuc a' Chroin
Stuc a' Chroin, from the Gaelic for cloven hoof peak, lies in Breadalbane in the southern Highlands, a short way south of Ben Vorlich and east of Strathyre. The Perth and Kinross boundary with Stirling runs straight through its summit, and Callander sits to the south.
It is most often taken with Ben Vorlich in a single round from Ardvorlich on Loch Earnside. The usual line crosses Ben Vorlich and descends its southwest ridge to the Bealach an Dubh Choirein, from where rough paths climb very steeply beside a prominent buttress, with scrambling involved, to reach the top.
