About Stob Ban

The Mamores' Stob Bàn closes the western end of that ridge, five and a half kilometres northwest of Kinlochleven. From lower Glen Nevis it shows a sharp peak topped with pale quartzite that is regularly taken for snow, which fits its Gaelic name: white or light-coloured peak.

Three ridges run from the summit. The eastern one leads to the former Munro of Sgor an Iubhair above Coire a' Mhusgain, the corrie of the shellfish; the western links to Mullach nan Coirean; and the northern falls sharply towards Glen Nevis over tiers of rocky outcrop.

The hill shows Dalradian rock geology clearly enough that the Joint Nature Conservation Committee lists it in its Geological Conservation Review. Do not confuse it with the other Munro of the same name in the Grey Corries above Spean Bridge.
