About Moelfre

Moelfre is a large hill of 589 metres on the far western edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in Gwynedd, forming part of the Rhinogydd range. It rises about three miles from the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy, five miles from Llanbedr and some ten miles from Harlech, and stands as a prominent peak separating Cwm Nantcol from the Ysgethin Valley.

The hill is associated with a legend of three women who worked on the sabbath and were turned into standing stones.

Finding the summit

Surveyor's note

summit 250m NW is at least 3m lower.

The recorded summit point is cairn on large pile of stones. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
