About Millfore

Millfore sits in the Minnigaff Hills, a sub-range of the Galloway Hills within the Southern Uplands, north-east of Newton Stewart inside Galloway Forest Park. It draws fewer walkers than others in the group, though the summit gives a wide outlook over neighbouring hills and Loch Dee.

The White Laggan glen cuts it off from the hills to the west, so it is often taken as a single objective, most commonly from Clatteringshaws Loch on the eastern side.

Finding the summit

Surveyor's note

embedded rock by cairn 20m SW at NX 47797 75447 is 0.1m lower.

The recorded summit point is rock strata 6m SW of trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
